Receiving

Throughout this season of advent, we have waited, we have hoped, and we have expected. And what have we received?

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Isaiah 9:6

We don’t always receive what we wait for, hope for and expect this side of heaven.

We may not have received the perfect gift, or improved health, or that miracle we wanted.

We may not have received what we hoped for from our families or friends.

What have we received? We have received God’s love, his presence, his grace and his peace, all demonstrated and perfectly lived out in bodily form in Jesus

This is the gift that keeps on giving: more grace, more love, and more peace, all from trusting in Jesus.
This last week of the year, may all of our expectations and hopes center on Jesus, and may his presence in our lives be more than we could dream.
